Four renditions, permanent addresses and an honest indication of source quality.

Use the provided image_urls from api.kairosarchive.net. Cards use their default printing’s front image. Printings carry their own image URLs, with reverse images under back.image_urls when available.

Renditions preserve aspect ratio and may be a pixel narrower than nominal. Keep the image’s natural proportions, use a 63:88 placeholder, and never stretch art to fill a slot. Site cards are served upright even when their printed orientation is landscape.

Cache by URL

Addresses contain the printing ID and an art-version key. New art or encoding produces a new address; an existing address never changes its bytes. Cache these images indefinitely.

Index consumers can construct rendition paths from a printing’s printing_id and image_hash: /images/{printing_id}.{image_hash}.normal.webp. A reverse adds .back before the rendition. For originals, use the supplied URL because the format may differ.

Attribution and delivery

Images belong to Erik’s Curiosa. Hotlinking the registry’s image URLs is allowed with publisher credit; see usage and attribution. The site does not request images from the publisher’s servers on page load.

Keep transparent corners intact and apply proportional corner rounding: border-radius: 4.75% / 3.5%.
