Kairos Archive

Discord bot

Kairos Archive's bot answers card questions inside Discord with the same data and the same search syntax as this site. It answers only when asked: slash commands, and the one message you point it at with Find cards. It never posts unprompted and stores nothing.

Add it

Add to Discord

Discord asks where to add it. A server needs the Manage Server permission there and makes the commands available to everyone in it. Your account lets you use the commands in any server or direct message, whether or not that server has the bot. The bot asks for no permission beyond registering its commands.

Commands

CommandWhat it does
/card nameA card, with its default printing's art. Start typing and pick from the suggestions; pressing enter on free text takes the best match.
/id C000230A card by its codex id, or one physical printing by its printing id (/id P000937): that printing's own art, set, product, finish, artist and flavour text.
/randomA random card, or with a query a random card from its matches: /random t:site, /random e:fire cost<=2, /random s:gothic is:foil. The embed says which printing it is showing.
/search queryThe first five matches for a query in the search syntax, each with its art, the total, and a button to all results on this site.
/syntaxThe search syntax on one screen, shown to you alone.
/history nameEvery face the card has had, oldest first, each change against the one before: mana, stats, thresholds, the rules text with the removed words struck through and the added words in bold, and any earlier names.
/set nameA set by name or code: release date, how many cards and printings, some of its cards, and a search for all of them.
Find cardsRight-click any message, open Apps and pick Find cards: every [[card name]] in that message, up to five, with their art. A message with no brackets is tried as one name.

Flipping through printings and results

A card answer carries a menu of the card's printings when it has more than one. Pick one and the message becomes that printing: its own art, artist, flavour text, and a note when it was printed with earlier values. Search results carry Next 5 and Previous buttons that turn the page in place. Anyone in the channel can use them, not only whoever asked.

What an answer shows

A card embed carries the type line as printed (Minion — Ordinary Giant), mana, threshold drawn with the game's element symbols, power (attack and defense when they differ), life, the sets it appears in, which printing is pictured (Shown: Gothic · Booster · Standard, art by Dan Seagrave), the card's ids (C000927 · P002719), the rules text, and buttons to the card's page here and its JSON record. A double-faced card gets a second embed for its back face. A card with recorded errata says so.

A search shows up to five matches as small embeds with their art, the total above them, and how many more cards mention the words only in their rules text. The All results button opens the same query on this site.

Searching from Discord

/search takes the full search syntax: t:minion e:fire cost<=2, a:"Drew Tucker" unique:prints, is:errata sort:cost. /syntax shows the short version without leaving Discord. A query the parser cannot read comes back to you alone with the reason.

Where the answers come from

Cards come from the newest verified registry release, read directly from the API; searches run through the query API. A new release reaches the bot within minutes with no update on your side. The bot is open source: sadkinglabs/kairos-bot, a Cloudflare Worker you can also run yourself.
